Corvette

I made this Corvette themed cake for my Corvette loving father! It's covered with marshmallow fondant, which I made for the first time. I'm discovering that I'm not so fond of fondant, but I'll keep trying! Those guys around the side are "Jake", the corvette racing symbol.

Soccer Ball

I made 2- 8 inch cakes, stacked them and carved them to make the ball shape. I was a little unsure of my carving skills and how even the ball was going to turn out, but it actually appears to have come out pretty even. I put a very thin layer of buttercream and then used a pentagon and hexagon template that I cut out of paper to mark the pattern on the cake. Next I went back with the star tip to transform it into the soccer ball, I added some grass around the bottom edge and it was done. Everyone loved it!

Mermaid

My daughter chose Little Mermaid for her 3rd birthday. Little Mermaid wasn't very popular at the time and I couldn't find cake decorations for it, so I bought the doll from the toy store. I used crushed graham crackers for the "sand".

Harry Potter

Here is the Harry Potter cake that I did. I bought the toy kit online and copied the sample picture. I had to improvise the bricks by coloring the icing brown and using gel between them, since I don't have an airbrush. I used the canned black spray on the right hand side for the sidewalk.

Daisies

Ok, so I made a cake with daisies on it today. I baked a single layer cake and made buttercream icing. Sometimes my buttercream turns out really well, other times not so well - today was a good day! I used gum paste for the first time and found that I liked using it. It was both easy to color and easy to use. My cake turned out so-so, but it's only going to be eaten by the family and seen by few (since I assume that no one is looking at this anyway)!

Vow Renewal

I made this one for my brother and sister in law when they renewed their vows. It was my 1st attempt at a wedding type cake. Next time, I'll get it a little straighter!

Pop Princess Guitar

I made this guitar for my daughter's 6th birthday party. She loved it and it was a big hit!
